چکیده

Abstract Aims Plant available soil nitrogen (N) may affect deep root growth and N depletion by catch crops. We investigated the influence of topsoil availability on uptake fodder radish. Methods conducted field greenhouse experiments late autumn at medium high availabilities, inflow depths ( 15 injection) in sandy loam loamy sand, using minirhizotron method rhizotrons greenhouse. Results High resulted lower intensity field, but higher experiment under both types. Radish had deeper roots than sand. caused rates At was twice as depth. Conclusions Higher affects decrease inflow, thus lowering hampering exploitation availability, potential for is probably due to younger a The shallower less dense sand its clay P contents.

Interaction of different irrigation strategies and soil textures on the nitrogen uptake of field grown potatoes

Nitrogen (N) uptake (kg ha-1) of field-grown potatoes was measured in 4.32 m2 lysimeters that were filled with coarse sand, loamy sand, and sandy loam and subjected to full (FI), deficit (DI), and partial root-zone drying (PRD) irrigation strategies. PRD and DI as water-saving irrigation treatments received 65% of FI after tuber bulking and lasted for six weeks until final harvest. Results show...

Soil Carbon and Nitrogen Fractions and Crop Yields Affected by Residue Placement and Crop Types

Soil labile C and N fractions can change rapidly in response to management practices compared to non-labile fractions. High variability in soil properties in the field, however, results in nonresponse to management practices on these parameters. We evaluated the effects of residue placement (surface application [or simulated no-tillage] and incorporation into the soil [or simulated conventional...

Crop Specific Application Rates of Nitrogen for Soil-Grown Crops in Greenhouses to Protect the Groundwater

In a desk study, nitrogen (N) fertilizer application rates were studied and Nconcentrations at one meter depth or at the drain were estimated for Chrysanthemum grown in twelve greenhouse cropping systems, differing in soil type, supplemental lighting and transmissivity. Two N-saving strategies were also studied of which one estimated the N-concentration in the irrigation water to comply with th...
